Dare to wear DENIM!

Denim can be seen as one of those daggy materials that are a struggle to make look good!  But, as we can see, denim is returning to the spotlight and is looking better than ever.  Ripped, flare, bootleg, boyfriend, skinny or coloured, the designs are endless.  The bravest out there will even try the double d- Double Denim!

Above is some of my denim collection and as you can see I'm loving the trend!

I recently picked up a pair of high waisted Wrangler jeans for $8 at the Salvo's.  Donation to a charity whilst picking up a great bargain!  Second hand shops are probably your best bet for finding ripped, vintage jeans.

Caraline Brasch is a big one for the double denim look.  If done well (like Caroline) it works so well doesn't it!

Sarah Blomqvist braving the double denim!

As denim can sometimes be seen as a boring dull shade, add some colour and even fluro for the courageous
   just like Elena Perminova.

Denim jackets have an edgy rock chic feel.

Make a simple denim outfit classy by adding a coat or suit top like seen at New York Fashion week.

Will you be trying the demin trend this winter?

Fall 2013 Collections

After weeks of anticipation, images of the Fall 2013 ranges are finally out!  With all the major brands bringing out their totally new, interesting and sometimes strange collections, there is much hype about what the trends shall be this winter!

Below are a few of my favourite designers and their ranges and as you can see I'm getting right into the minimalism and simplistic aspect of clothing.

Jil Sander

Dereck Lam

3.1 Phillip Lim

Proenza Shouler

Rachel Zoe

For me the obvious trends this season as you can see are neutral leathers as in Rachel Zoe's collection and even leather checkerboard patterns like in 3.1 Phillip Lim.
Tailoring, blazers and jackets add a feel off smartness to an outfit and will be around this Fall to add to a pair of jeans or a full suit.
Clean cuts of pants, tops and overcoats will be much appreciated this season.  Especially the trousers that will bring a sense of the 'gamine' style as you can see with Dereck Lam and Jil Sander.

So what trend will you be following this winter?

Grammy Dresses!

So with a room full of the most well known musicians in the world, there is bound to be some amazing dresses.  With much contemplating, I've come up with my favourite dresses (and tux's!) from the evening.  See what you think:

1.
Chrissy Teigen tops my list!  This Joy Cioci crop top and maxi skirt make a different take on the idea of "smart dressed"!  The right leg split adds some spice to this outfit that would have otherwise been quite casual.  The delicate decoration on the bottom of the top and top of the skirt take it to another level.

2.
Rhianna looked amazing!  Even wearing her hair long in luscious brown locks for the special occasion. Dressed in an Azzedine Alaia gown with some shear fabric around the bust, in a bright red shade with a small train. Close to perfect!

3.
Karlie Kloss sporting her new(ish) cropped do in a lovely aqua dress.  Even with such a slender figure, she opted for a pencil dress to elongate those limbs even more!  This colour complements her pale complexion as well.  Cut outs are my new craze!

4.
Rhianna on my list once again in her wonderfully shiny crop singlet and maxi skirt.  This was worn in her tribute song with Bruno Mars.  I must have a thing with maxi's at the moment!

5.
And how could I leave out the gorgeous Taylor Swift.  Wearing a J. Mendel creme silk gown with chiffon pleated fabric. With cut outs at the neck and slim sides, this dress works so well for Taylor.  The hair does wonders and even links in with her country feel, having a tiny braid draped across her forehead.

Is Cara really the new Kate Moss?

For all you hard core Mossy fans out there (myself included) you may find this hard to take.  Cara Delevingne has shot to fame after walking many high fashion runways, becoming an official angel after walking in the Victoria's Secret Fashion show and acquiring the title of Model of the Year 2012.

Cara known for her quirky personality and silly cutsie pictures that pop up everywhere on the internet, has become one of the most well known names in fashion, now even competing with the very best, including Kate Moss. After Mario Testino dubbed her the new Kate Moss or Moss 2.0, the question has been floating around- is she really?

The reason i tend to believe they may be similar  is the fact that both Moss and Delevingne have a similar style, that is dark neutrals and almost grunge.  As you can see above they have been seen sporting their signature styles, similar huh?

Don't get me wrong as Cara is one of my favourite models currently with her unusual features just like Moss has. (One of the many reasons they are both so successful!)

So it's completely up to you to decide now, but for me it's still Kate Moss's world, we are just living in it...
